My local bookstore is Books are Magic owned by local mom and best-selling author Emma Straub (her latest, All Adults Here is a perfect summer read). If you haven't yet been, Books are Magic is a lovely little shop, with shelves full of reading treasures for grown ups, children, tweens and teens. I used to love bringing the kids and leaving them in the back to read on the bean bags while I thumbed through new books on the tables up in the front room. Can't quite do that now, but it's still open for short visits and online orders.
Their latest idea is brilliant—book subscriptions. You can choose from cookbooks, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, young adult, middle grade, or picture books.
I'm a voracious reader so I may opt for the fiction subscription as well as the cookbook one since I am cooking all our meals and I am in dire need of inspiration. Choose 3 ($100), 6 ($200), or 12 month ($395) subscriptions for all genres except cookbook subscriptions which ship quarterly ($175 / 1 year for 4 books). Their first book shipping in October 2020 will be Xi'an Famous Foods: The Cuisine of Western China from New York's Famous Noodle Shop
